After-School Program
An academic enrichment program for elementary age children, six to twelve
years of age.
Youths in Partnership
The goal of the program is to educate youths thirteen to eighteen years of
age on the relationship between substance abuse and HIV/AIDS.
The Father's Program
Provides activities that enables fathers to take an active role in the
lives of their children, family and in the community.
Work First New Jersey
Provides job readiness; search and placement for Temporary Assistance to
Needed Families (TANF) recipients and community residents.
Head Start
The program offers preschoolers educational, nutritional, health/mental
health services, literacy activities, and social services and parent
involvement for families.
Fine and Performing Arts
Designed to stimulate and motivate youngsters in the area of dance, drama,
music and individual arts.
M.A.M.
Mothers Assisting Mothers
Summer Camp
Provides academic and recreational services to community children between 7
and 12 years of age.
Crisis Intervention
Counseling services are provided by certified social workers whose primary
goal is to stabilize the family.
Karate Program
Teaches discipline, poise, self control and the basic skills needed in the
filed of Marital Arts.
Senior Citizens
The Leaguers is home to the Newark Office on Aging South Ward Senior
Citizens Center.
Parenting Skills
The Leaguers offers various workshops and activities to enhance the skills
of parents, therefore, enabling them to meet today's challenges of raising
their children.
Project Read
In November of 1998, The Leaguers became the lead agency to Project Read, a
volunteer literacy program in Essex County. The agency provides administrative
and program support and facility space.
