Stress and Pregnancy

Recent studies have shown that stress during pregnancy can produce hormones that can cause

miscarriage and preterm labor.  Not only can it cause pains it can also make you feel annoyed or even

sad.  Pregnancy can be a very stressful time, you may not be able to do all the things you could do

before you were pregnant.

What’s the big SECRET to help reduce stress while

you are pregnant?

Support-  This can come from family and friends, or even other professionals. But being around other

people and being able to openly discuss your issues can help resolve issues that are stressing

                    you.

Exercise- It can be as simple as talking a walk three times a week around the neighborhood. Exercise is

very important in pregnancy it can help you feel better and give you more strength for labor.

This can help you recover quicker after delivery.

Cuddle- With yourself, your mate, your pillow, or even your pet.

Relaxation- You can meditate, listen to music, write in a journal, watch your favorite show or even take a

warm bath. Spend some “Me Time” with yourself and focus on things that make you happy.

Education- This helps to reduce stress caused by fear that you could be having during your pregnancy.

Fear can come from the pregnancy its self, labor and delivery, or even parenting. Reading

books and speaking with professionals about any of your concerns can help you become more

comfortable with your changing body and your new role of being a mommy!

Talking- To your partner, friends, relatives, and your health care professionals can help you to de-stress.

When you feel overwhelmed talking to any of these people can help release any stress you may

                    be feeling.
